Artisan Policies

  1. The annual registration fee is $25.00 (which also is your membership fee). Please include your check when you return your form. Checks should be made out to “SWE” or the “Sandhills Woman’s Exchange”.
  2. Items will be accepted in person on Wednesdays and Saturdays ONLY from 10:00 to 2:00 p.m.
  3. Except for “Antiques & Collectibles”, we accept only new, handmade merchandise.
  4. The Consignment Committee has the right to reject or return an item, either due to the quality of the workmanship or because members feel the item will not sell in our market. We also reserve the right to limit quantities of items accepted.
  5. Out of town consignors pay for the shipping of all merchandise. Items mailed via the U.S. Postal Service should be sent to our P.O. Box address. Other shipping services(UPS, FedEx, etc.) deliver only to the Azalea Road address. The cost of returning items will be deducted from your last check. If your account cannot cover these charges, we will ask for a check for these expenses. You will be reimbursed for any money not used.
  6. The Exchange is NOT RESPONSIBLE for lost or damaged merchandise and the Exchange will not pay for missing items.
  7. When, at the end of the month, you have earned $20 or more, checks will be issued by the 10th of the following month. Sales under $20 will be carried over until a minimum $20 balance is reached.
  8. Please give us 48 hour’s notice when you wish to pick up merchandise. Please bring boxes or bags to pack up your unsold items.
  9. Any items not picked up by Artisan pick-up week will become property of the Exchange. Items received by mail will be shipped back to the consignor at the consignor’s expense.
  10. SWE will assign your merchandise an item number and determine the retail sale price based on the Consignor’s wholesale amount. The selling price includes North Carolina sales tax.
  11. The Consignor(Artisan) will receive 60% of the Retail Price for items sold below $100., and will receive 70% for items sold at $100 and above.
  12. The SWE holds “sales” to try and move products prior to closing at Christmas (on Holiday items only), and again before closing at the end of May on all items. The 20% discount will be split between the Artisan and the Exchange.
